Trump Blasts Dem He Pardoned After Biden Admin Targeted Him, Endorses Challenger

President Donald Trump is backing Tano Tijerina in his bid against Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar.
In a lengthy post ahead of a visit to Texas, Trump said he had pardoned the couple at the request of their daughters, who pleaded with him not to let their parents go to prison on federal fraud and conspiracy charges.
Trump said he made no political deal with Cuellar in exchange for the pardon, but believed the congressman would ultimately show his gratitude by joining the Republican Party.
Instead, Trump said, Cuellar announced “only a few days later” that he would remain a Democrat.
Trump described that decision as “a tremendous act of disloyalty” and said he was shocked that Cuellar would remain with the party he accused of having persecuted the congressman. Trump also said Cuellar’s decision could leave him vulnerable to renewed political attacks from Democrats.
Trump also emphasized that he believed he could have made a political deal with Cuellar when granting the pardon but chose not to. Instead, he said, he “relied on his character,” which Trump now says “turned out to be a faulty one.”
He ended the post with a direct appeal to Texas voters: “VOTE FOR TANO TIJERINA,” arguing that Cuellar’s treatment of Trump should have political consequences.
To the people of Texas, I am headed your way, and one of the people that I am going to pay respect to today is Tano Tijerina. Out of love and passion, he is running against a Dumocrat, Henry Cuellar, who, along with his wife, I pardoned, at the request of his daughters, because they said, “Please don’t let them take our parents away!” They would have gone to jail on federal fraud and conspiracy charges, for over 20 years and, in fact, Henry Cuellar’s brother, a Sheriff, a short time later, was indicted on the same charges. In any event, I did the pardons, and made no deal, where a crooked politician would have, but I thought there would be a good chance that Cuellar, who was persecuted by Democrats because they didn’t like him, would have routinely gone over to the Republican Party — The people that saved him from years in prison. Shockingly, Cuellar announced, only a few days later, that he is going to remain a Dumocrat. Many considered this to be a tremendous act of disloyalty, and certainly, showed him to be an extremely ungrateful person. His wife, as I heard, wanted him to turn to the man and the Party that helped him, but he wouldn’t do it so, because they’re vicious, the Dumocrats will have a chance to go after him again. In any event, the man running against him, Tano Tijerina, is a STAR and, hopefully, will WIN! We call that payback for a disloyal and ungrateful person, a person whose life has been saved only to go back into the clutches of the people that tried so hard to destroy him. Henry Cuellar is a LOSER who, right now, should be serving a longterm jail sentence with his wife in a top level penitentiary. Tano, a legendary Baseball Star, Great Athlete, respected County Judge, and fine person, will hopefully beat Cuellar so that people can show how bad it is when you are recognized and humiliated as being one of the most disloyal political people on Earth! I only wish Henry Cuellar’s daughters, who begged for his survival, would have used the same level of charm to convince their mother and father to do the right thing. I am very proud of the fact that I didn’t make a deal with Cuellar, which I easily could have, but relied on his character, which turned out to be a faulty one. Tano Tijerina, on the other hand, loves Loredo, and all of South Texas but, most importantly, he truly loves the United States of America. Trump pardoned Cuellar because he said he was unfairly targeted by the Biden administration.
Trump said, “Henry’s views on these subjects were not strong, but they were better than other Democrats…Biden and his crew of Radical Left Thugs did not like those things about Cuellar, and they worked hard, and expected to put him in jail for the rest of his life.”
Trump said he granted Cuellar the pardon without expecting him to remain in Congress. He explained his reasoning for sparing Cuellar and his wife, Imelda, from a possible 20-year prison sentence after they were accused of accepting nearly $600,000 in bribes and laundering the funds.
He said he was swayed by “heart wrenching and beautiful” letters he received from their daughters begging for mercy for their parents. He shared the Nov. 12 letter from Christina and Catherine Cuellar, who suggested their father’s “independence and honesty” may have opened him up to an investigation in the first place.
Trump said he also believed the Biden administration targeted Rep. Cuellar over disagreements on border policy.
