The United States is conducting airstrikes in Iran, Axios reported Wednesday, citing a U.S. official.
The reported strikes come amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran and follow recent military exchanges involving U.S. forces and Iran-backed groups in the region.
Trump had warned earlier on Wednesday that strikes on Iran were coming.
Trump told reporters that “We’re going to be hitting them very hard because it’s our turn to hit them.”
President Trump reiterated that the U.S. would strike back at Iran in retaliation for the latest attack by the country’s Revolutionary Guard.
“We’re going to be hitting them very hard because it’s our turn to hit them,” Mr. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “They know it’s coming, they’re asking us not to do it.”
